- Amarnath finished his career having 11 Test centuries out of which nine were scored in overseas conditions.
- In 1986, Amarnath had a good Benson and Hedges World Series tournament with knocks of 61, 58* and 74 against New Zealand, Australia and New Zealand respectively.
- Amarnath was widely reckoned for his courage on the field especially at the batting crease.
- He was the Man of the Match in two decisive games of the tournament. From eight outings, Amarnath gathered 237 runs at 29.62 and 8 wickets at 22.25.
- Amarnath carried a red colour handkerchief in his pocket while batting hence giving a testament of his superstition on the field.
- Amarnath played a crucial role behind India’s triumph in the 1983 World Cup campaign in England.
