Bala Movie Review

Bala movie review: Ayushmann Khurrana delivers a hilarious film that is also empathetic. Yet again Ayushmann Khurrana is in form, as he plays an ordinary man with an extraordinary problem. By so far Bala is the funniest movie of them all and Ayushmann hits the ball out of the court.

Balmukund (Ayushmann Khurrana), a school boy of Kanpur city, is called a ‘hero’ because of his waving hair. Gurur is so much that sometimes he makes a cartoon of his hairless teacher. Bala is the Shah Rukh Khan of the school and loves to attract attention through his mimicry skills. Sometimes he scoffs at a girl with a complexion of time, the whole scene changes as Mukund grows up.

By the age of twenty-five years, the hair of the head started going fast. Because of his balding head, his girlfriend of 15 years has left him for a guy who looks exactly like him, because of more hair on his head. He gets demoted in his marketing job of selling fairness cream from the post of executive. Now starts the struggle. Bala, who has tried every trick of growing hair, putting a mix of buffalo’s dung and bull’s semen on his scalp to doing every asana possible. He tries hundreds of remedies to get his pride back but to no use. In his entire struggle, he has a strong support of his lovely family and friends – (Abhishek Banerjee and Jaaved Jaaferi), his brother (Dheerendra Kumar Gautam), his parents (Saurabh Shukla and Sunita Rajbar).

Almost all the characters of the film are so beautifully carved that they leave their own distinct impression despite the presence of heroes like Ayushman in almost every third scene. Be it Bala Ka Nauva (hair cutter) (Abhishek Banerjee), her father (Saurabh Shukla) or actress Seema Pahwa, who plays actress Bhumi Pednekar’s aunt.

Talking about the actresses, Yami Gautam has worked in the role of small town model Pari Mishra. Bhumi has also done a good job in the role of a strong lawyer who has suffered discrimination due to her complexion since childhood.

Ayushmann Khurrana once again proved that he is capable of doing all kinds of roles with superb and lively acting.
